8. Take Your Time In Selling
Selling may prove to be more difficult that buying. Many collectors who buy carefully get flustered when they sell. Some have had bad experiences with auctions, being turned away by indifference or by having reserves renegotiated just before sale time.
Others are afraid to place art on consignment with galleries because they have heard stories about failure to make payment when due and about pieces shipped around the country from dealer to dealer. Selling is thus another ball game, but no collector truly understands art until he sells something. He should really try to find a personally acceptable selling route through established galleries or auction houses.
