Now overgrown with prairie grass, all that remains of the Buffalo Gap is the spirit of the Indian and buffaloes that used it for centuries. Greg Beecham has done a wonderful job of recreating this special place.

The Buffalo Gap was used both by Indians and the buffalo as they made their annual migration to the Black Hills for the winter. The gouge of dirt would be formed, as the multitudes of buffalo churned up the earth.

Gate of the Buffalo, was commissioned by Doug and Jill Hagan, who wanted a buffalo painting that truly captured this magnificent animal. They were impressed by Greg's previous works, and by Greg himself. After a week long site visitation, Greg was able to capture the spirit of this great land and animal.
